Attention, Wal-mart Customers: "All Black People Leave Now"

A 16-year-old-boy was taken into custody
for saying on a Wal-Mart intercom system,
"Attention, Wal-mart customers: "All
Black people leave now."

"Any statements like these that can cause
harm or grave concern must be addressed
as quickly as we possibly can." Sean
Dalton, Gloucester County Prosecutor
said.

It happened at the Washington Township,
NJ Wal-Mart. Security tapes didn't
pick-up a clear physical likeness of
the suspect.

Authorities scanned sites like Facebook
and You-Tube.

They found kids "boasting" about the
offensive incident. Police were tipped
about it too.

The charges against the teen are
intimidation and harassment. He's in
his parents' custody.

A juvenile court will hear the case,
and he could receive up to a year.

Wal-Mart's intercom system has been
updated at that particular store,
according to a spokesmen.

Brand Ban in Retail Stores

Be fair, attentive, and customers
will return.

Don't be upset, surprised, when a
brand your mother used, and then
you started using, can't be found
at your favorite retailers. The habit
of using the detergent turned into
years. It felt like a fourth cousin,
friendly.

The recession forced you to pick house
brands, store brands, generic brands,
which were within your budget. Of
course, other shoppers, were coerced
into selecting generic brands too.

People, in general, are pleased with
the generic brands. Naturally, brands
people like, they become loyal to. It's
good for the retailer, because house,
store, generic, brands cost less. They
are cheaper to stock. Retailers want to
accommodate customers, but are on the
look-out for bargains too.

Retailers are responding to the recession,
their customers, by providing affordable
house, store, generic, brands. They have
to select which brand names to shelve. It's
a brand ban. Or, some feel it's the "win,
play, show," strategy.

The "win, play, show," strategy means each
department, division, is analyzed for growth
potential, customer confidence, and advantage.

In other words, the retailers on your street
and mine reacted to their customers' behavior
by cutting back on the number of items they
make room for, shelf space nestles top selling
products, and brands crawling to the doors are
reduced. Also, brands will be removed from
shelves permanently.

The strategy remains in effect until it's
no longer feasible to do. There's no
indicator of when retailers will go back
to the "old" way.

Industry experts explained retailers want
to contract lower prices on advertising.
They, too, are looking to stretch their
dollars as far as possible.

It's reported that Wal-Mart(the United
States' largest retailer), Walgreens,
and CVS took the steps to a brand ban.

How do you communicate with a coworker that does not like you?

Be fair, attentive, and customers
will return.

Communicate the organization's
business in a respectful manner.
Get your point across. Make sure
the person understands what you
communicated.

Ask him/her a work-place related
question if necessary.

Take note of body gestures.
A co-worker rolling his/her
eyes means, now is not the
time to ask me a question.

Do your work. Meet the
organization's goals, and that
can possibly change a co-worker's
mind about you.

Do not violate that person's
space unless it's a work related
matter. Continue with
your work-day.

G-mail Accounts: Beware

Be fair, attentive, and customers
will return.

The exploit code used to
hack China is a concern,
still.

The code can be plucked
from the Internet, and
used by anyone.

Thirty or more companies
experienced the exploit
code.

The weakness is with the
browser Explorer Six. It's
part of the Windows XP system.

The system is older, but
in use by many businesses
and private people.

The system is in need of
a patch.

Microsoft stated a patch for
the operating system is in
the works, but a specific
date wasn't given.

A few ways to help yourself
is to update Web browsers,
run intrusion software, and
use fire-walls.

It's paramount not to click
on any links, e-mails, that
are unbelievable. Or, avoid
links that are just too good
to be real.

Help Haiti: Avoid Scam Artists

Be fair, attentive, and customers
will return.

Americans want to help Haiti, but
scam artists are looking for ways
to profit.

The donating to Haiti by text-ing
scams are increasing.

The key is to donate to organizations
that are known, trusted.

Usually, catastrophic forces of nature,
home or elsewhere, will bring-out good
people wanting to help victims, and
scam artists waiting to profit.

The Federal Trade Commission is warning
people about fake e-mails promising to
help victims, and how scam artists set-up
web sites that look professional.

The goal is to help victims by putting
funds in the hands of organizations
that understand the unique challenges
of such disasters.

The Better Business Bureau has tips
for those wanting to help. The link is:
www.bbb.org.

Be aware as you step-up to help, and
be mindful of scam artists.
